MEET GAY FILMMAKER AND OP MEMBER M. SEAN KAMINSKY AT OP'S EXCLUSIVE GREENHOUSE RECEPTION
Meet one of today's hottest gay filmmakers at this exclusive Out Professionals evening at Varick Street club Greenhouse, which boasts its own state-of-the-art screening room.
The club is ours for the evening as we welcome award-winning documentary filmmaker and writer M. Sean Kaminsky, who has produced and/or directed work for HBO, PBS, Sundance Channel and MTV's LOGO among others. He also directed "Gifted and Challenged: The Making of Shortbus", and produced acclaimed doc "Gay Sex in the '70s".
The entire club will be reserved just for OP on Wednesday September 15 from 6-10pm with 2-4-1 vodka drinks all night long. You can mix, mingle, and meet up while seeing some of the best in gay film.
Among the witty, quirky short films:
How Beatrice Came Clean
Loveless, lonely Beatrice wanders into a Laundromat and discovers the redemptive powers of bleach. In this urban fairy tale it's the princess who gets her Snow White. This short film premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2002.
Green Man: Kostume Kult
Each Labor Day, thousands gather in the Black Rock desert in Nevada to participate in the radical self-expression and community that is Burning Man. In 2007 the theme was "Green Man". On behalf of Sundance Channel, Sean Kaminsky visited several artists who incorporated the 'green' theme in their installations.
SpaceTrip
Produced & Directed by: Sean Kaminsky & Dave Adox. What do you get when you combine cramped living spaces and astronomical rents with an artistic mecca and the quest to leave your mark on the world? "SpaceTrip: NYC" -- a documentary that takes an up-close look at the "interior" lives of nine bohemian New Yorkers with highly unusual living situations.
-- Meet Siobhan Meow
His small apartment on Manhattan's Lower East Side is home to over 80 rescued cats. Watch as Siobhan makes his own unique cat food, nurses his disabled cats back to health, and reveals how his family of felines has turned his life around by lifting him out of a deep clinical depression.
-- Meet David Gellum it is Christmas Day everyday in his Queens apartment. Five Christmas trees, hundreds of twinkling lights, and a life-size snowwoman give his apartment yuletide cheer to spare. "Some people say I'm out there. But I just want to create my little space that feels like home." - David Gellum
