WOMEN'S NIGHT: Shaken & Stirred Leo Bar at Asia Society & Museum

Friday, October 16, 2009
6:00PM - 9:00PM

Hosted by Asia Society, OP.LYNX, Astraea & Q-Wave

Asia Society is our most gracious host for Women's Night at Leo Bar Networking Mixer. A record turnout of over 500 women joined us at the last mixer!

The most gratifying observation for all the partnering organizations has been just how consistently diverse in age, ethnicity, style, profession, interest and expression the attendees are at this twice-per-year Asia Society women's mixer.

Leo or Leogryph, the symbol of Asia Society, is a fierce, mythical beast with the anatomy of a lion and a griffon. It is known as a figure of protection in Asia.

Founded in 1956 by John D. Rockefeller 3rd, Asia Society is an international nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational organization that fosters communication and understanding between the Asia-Pacific region and the US.

Currently on view at Asia Society:

Hanging Fire: Contemporary Art from Pakistan

Discover Pakistan's thriving contemporary arts scene in this first ever U.S. museum survey exhibition. Amid economic, political and social tensions, fifteen artists over the past two decades have created powerful works across a fascinating range of media and subjects. Devotion in South India: Chola Bronzes
October 6, 2009-February 8, 2010
Explore a rare assemblage of some of the world's finest sculptures, Chola bronzes. This exhibition considers the exquisitely beautiful cast bronze sculptures in relation to the Hindu tradition of bhakti (devotion). The depiction of itinerant poet-saints during the Chola period reflects the importance of these figures in promoting bhakti and the growth of Hindu temples.

Yoshihiro Suda: In Focus
October 6, 2009-February 8, 2010
For his first solo exhibition in a New York museum, Yoshihiro Suda has conceived of a new installation inspired by Asia Society's Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd Collection. Suda creates realistic sculptures of plants and flowers in the tradition of Japanese wood carving. His small works installed in unique spaces transform the way we view our surroundings.
