SETBACK? OR STEPPING STONE? HOW TO MASTER ADVERSITY.

OUT PROFESSIONALS PRESENTS KEYNOTE SPEAKER GERRY VALENTINE ON ’TURNING ADVERSITY INTO ADVANTAGE’

Why does adversity cause some people to break — and others to break records? On Tuesday, November 14, Out Professionals presents an inspiring seminar with keynote speaker, executive coach and writer Gerry Valentine to answer that question.

Adversity is part of life. Those who know how to defy the odds and transform adversity into advantage can accomplish amazing things. At Out Professionals, Gerry Valentine shares their secrets— and his.

Starting from a difficult early life — in poverty, as an African-American, and as a gay man — Valentine earned an Ivy League degree and an MBA and built a successful career as a Fortune 100 executive. Along the way, Gerry found that some of the most difficult days in his past became the very tools he needed to excel. Turning adversity into advantage is a skill he can teach you.

Here is some of what you will learn in this highly motivating session:

  • How to change your perspective on adversity
  • How to avoid the self-defeating patterns that derail most people
  • How fear defeats creativity—and how to get back on track
  • A five-step process to turn setbacks into stepping stones

Gerry Valentine is an executive coach, speaker and writer who advises business leaders, entrepreneurs and organizations on transforming a challenge into an advantage. He counsels on how to overcome setbacks, seize new opportunities, and build resilience. Before founding his company, Gerry enjoyed a long career with some of the nation’s most respected firms — companies like American Express and Pfizer Inc. — where he oversaw multi-million-dollar lines of business. He holds a BS in electrical and computer engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from NYU. He has taught executive leadership at Colorado State University’s School of Professional Studies.
