OUT PROFESSIONALS CELEBRATES HALLOWEEN AT THE GHOSTLY GREENWICH VILLAGE SITES OF MURDERS, HAUNTINGS AND MISSING PERSONS.
On Saturday, October 25, everyone was invited to join Members and friends of Out Professionals … OP.LYNX, our dynamic women’s network… and OP.PRIME, the network for up-and-coming LGBT professionals, for “Greenwich Village Macabre: The Walking Tour and Mixer.”
Death lies in plain view — if you know where to look:
. The 19th century Jewish graveyard
. Newgate Prison
. Hangings, and the hangman’s house
. The murdered architect
. The haunting artist
. America’s most famous missing person
. Edgar Allan Poe’s home, and his inspiration for “The Raven”
. The day the music died
Afterwards we adjourn to Julius’, one of Manhattan’s oldest bars and the site of the 1966 Sip-In, at which activists challenged the NYS Liquor Authority’s regulation that prohibited bars and restaurants from serving homosexuals. Julius’ was a favorite hangout of Tennessee Williams and Truman Capote.
