ENJOY A SUMMER EVENING IN THE GARDEN OF THE MERCHANT’S HOUSE MUSEUM, THE CITY’S ONLY INTACT 19TH-CENTURY HOME.’
Now endangered by the construction of a modernist hotel next door, the landmarked Merchant’s House Museum is the city’s only 19th century home to survive intact, true to the wishes of Gertrude Tredwell, who was born there in 1840 and died there, unmarried, at 93.
On Thursday evening, July 31, Out Professionals invites our Members to tour one of the city’s finest surviving examples of Federal architecture, a house whose Greek revival rooms still contain their original furniture, decorative arts and personal possessions.
