FOR TWO HOURS, ONE SANDWICH AT A TIME, HELP OP.LYNX LESSEN THE BURDEN OF HOMELESSNESS FOR LGBT YOUTH SERVED BY SYLVIA’S PLACE.
On Monday, January 4, Out Professionals invites you to join public-spirited Members and friends of OP.LYNX, our dynamic women’s network, in a two-hour sandwich-making effort.
Under the guidance of One Sandwich at a Time, volunteers will create hundreds of nutritious sandwiches for those served by MCCNY Homeless Youth Services, whose Sylvia’s Place remains one of the city’s only shelters to accept youth directly off the street, without a referral. As a result, it has become a refuge for the underserved — transgender youth and those experiencing trauma or living with HIV/AIDS.
Founded by Erin Dinan, One Sandwich at a Time has been awarded U.N. recognition for its impact.
Sandwich-making, socializing and networking, 6 to 8 p.m.
Suite 1202 at 245 West 29th Street, between 7th and 8th Avenues. (Enter Suite 1202 through the open-air alcove opposite the elevators.) Subway: No. 1 to 28th Street; 2/3/A/C/E to 34th Street Penn Station; N/R to 28th Street.
On arrival, your tax-deductible donation (suggested minimum, $15 in cash or check payable to One Sandwich at a Time) helps provide sandwich makings. Bring a hat or cap to cover your hair; we’ll supply everything else.
IT PAYS TO BE AN OP MEMBER!
Founded to increase and diversify OP membership and create programming of special interest to lesbian, bisexual and trangender women, OP.LYNX invites you to consider the many benefits of membership in the nation’s leading LGBT networking organization. A 12-month individual OP membership (new or renewal, your own or a holiday gift) is just $65. And remember, that buys a year’s worth of low-cost or no-cost networking and socializing.
