OUT PROFESSIONALS TOURS MANHATTAN’S SOUTHERN TIP, THE SETTING FOR ALEXANDER HAMILTON’S CAREER AND TODAY’S FINANCIAL DISTRICT.
On Saturday, September 17, join Members and friends of Out Professionals to uncover the story behind the musical and the man — Alexander Hamilton, founding father of the United States and creator of the modern banking system.
An orphaned nobody, Hamilton immigrated from the West Indies to British Colonial New York, where he quickly rose to become an influential player in the Revolutionary War.
After “Hamilton: The Downtown Walking Tour and Mixer,” we unwind, socialize and network at Fraunces Tavern (1762), where Washington bid farewell to his officers.
Tour highlights include:
- Site of first capital of the United States
- Society of the Cincinnati
- Trinity Church, the Tory stronghold
- Hamilton’s foes Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr
- The Weehawken duel that led to Hamilton’s death
- Graves of Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler Hamilton
